Outre les actions menées à l’endroit de la jeunesse et le financement des infrastructures essentielles telles que l’accès à l’eau, pour un total de 21 M€ dans les régions où il est représenté, l’impact du groupe Eramet au Gabon touche une part considérable de la population : « L’ambition du Groupe d’être un partenaire local du développement des territoires s’illustre également dans la création par Eramet et sa filiale Comilog de deux fonds RSE avec l’Etat gabonais, destinés à financer de nouveaux programmes de développement au profit des populations locales », avons-nous pu lire sur le rapport présenté.
Le groupe compte plus de 13 100 salariés dans le monde, dont 8 000 hors de France qui est la maison mère. Sa stratégie est de privilégier les emplois locaux, en investissant dans les talents de ses collaborateurs : le Gabon, siège social de Comolog et Setrag tire plutôt bien son épingle du jeu, à en juger par ces illustrations en annexes qui résument bien la situation.
Que gagne le Gabon par le biais d’Eramet ?
En clair, Eramet au travers du paiement de taxes, impôts et dividendes payés à l’Etat Gabonais, participe à son développement. Au Gabon, « Eramet a apporté une contribution de 604 M€. Deuxième employeur privé du pays avec plus de 7 700 emplois directs1, le Groupe, au travers de sa filiale Comilog, détenue à 64%, extrait et valorise du minerai de manganèse à haute teneur, dont elle est le 2ème producteur mondial. Sa filiale Setrag opère le chemin de fer du Transgabonais dédié au transport de marchandises et de voyageurs. Les deux sociétés ont réalisé 468 M€ d’achats (hors transport maritime), dont 76% dans le pays. Le Groupe a soutenu plus de 20 000 personnes qui ont bénéficié en 2020 des actions sociétales menées dans les domaines de la santé, de l’accès à l’eau et de l’éducation », toujours d’après le rapport susmentionné.
Des chiffres nettement supérieurs à ceux du Sénégal où la contribution d’Eramet s’est élevée en 2020 à 123 M€ grâce à sa filiale Grande Côte Opérations (GCO), et ceux de la Nouvelle-Calédonie évalués à 413 M€ au cours de la même année : c’est dire la place privilégiée du Gabon dans cette coopération.
En attendant la publication des résultats du premier semestre 2021 le 28 juillet prochain, les Gabonais peuvent apprécier et se réjouir du bilan 2020 d’Eramet, qui entend s’investir davantage.
