Conforme à l’esprit des recommandations issues de la Concertation politique qui a dernièrement réuni la classe politique gabonaise (majorité – opposition) du 13 au 23 février, à l’initiative du Président de la République Ali Bongo Ondimba, le gouvernement gabonais a délibéré en Conseil des Ministres, sur le projet de loi portant révision de la Constitution gabonaise en application des dispositions de l’article 109 de la loi fondamentale.
Ledit texte présenté le Vendredi 03 mars 2023 par le gouvernement, vise une harmonisation des mandats politiques, avec un scrutin électoral à un tour pour chaque élection, et un mandat de cinq (5) ans, pour le Président de la République et les Parlementaires. Ainsi sont concernés par cette révision Constitutionnelle, les articles 4, 9, 10, 11, 35 et 111 qui devront connaître un toilettage de la Constitution du pays afin d’être conformes à l’esprit de la feuille de route des recommandations de la Concertation politique.
Les représentations des Collectivités locales étant assurées par le Sénat pour harmoniser le renouvellement de la chambre haute avec celui des Conseils départementaux et des Conseils municipaux, le prochain mandat prévu entre Octobre et Novembre 2027, sera d’une durée transitoire exceptionnelle de moins de cinq (5) ans.
Dans le même temps, le gouvernement a également présenté un second projet de décret pris en application de l’article 7 du décret n° 0010/PR/MI du 21 février 2023 fixant la mise en place d’un comité paritaire de suivi de la mise en œuvre des recommandations consensuelles issues de la concertation politique des délégués des partis et groupements politiques légalement reconnus des partis politiques de la majorité et de l’opposition.
Il est à noter que cette Concertation politique convoquée par le Président de la République, Ali Bongo Ondimba, s’était déroulée dans un climat de convivialité pour améliorer le processus électoral gabonais en vue des élections politiques apaisées dans le pays.
