Le Célébrant a dans son homélie, a prêché l’amour, le pardon et la réconciliation, face à une assemblée majoritairement composée des JLR, tous de blanc vêtu : « nous devons être des semeurs de la paix. Nos concitoyens souffrent tellement, et Dieu suscite dans la société d’aujourd’hui des témoins et les témoins du Seigneur sont véritablement les témoins de la paix, de l’amour, les témoins de l’amour surtout et les témoins de la réconciliation pour un Gabon nouveau », a-t-il précisé.
Les responsables de ce mouvements ont expliqué les mobiles de leur action : « Nous avons organisé cette messe d’action de grâce à l’endroit du Chef de l’État Ali Bongo qui depuis près de trois années a traversé une période très orageuse. Aujourd’hui, Dieu lui a encore donné cette grâce d’être à la tête de notre cher pays le Gabon et nous avons tenu à venir ici aujourd’hui à la cathédrale Sainte Marie pour venir remercier l’Éternel pour ses bienfaits, pour que la paix continue de régner dans le Gabon, parce que notre plus grande victoire c’est la paix et nous disons Dieu Merci pour la paix », a déclaré Steeve Mbomba, le Coordonnateur Général des Jeunes Leaders Républicains.
Même son de cloche pour Moulengui Boussougou Bala, le Secrétaire Général des Jeunes Leaders Républicains : « à l’orée de la fête de l’indépendance, il était important pour nous de nous retrouver et célébrer une messe à l’intention du Chef de l’État […] Nous avons jugé utile de remettre nos vies entre les mains de Dieu, vous savez que tout est d’abord spirituel avant d’être physique. Le message que nous avons écouté est celui de l’amour. Quel soit les situations, nous devons nous aimer car nous n’avons pas un pays de rechange : pensons Gabon d’abord », a- t-il conclu.
L’action était pleine d’amour et de bonnes intentions, dans l’espoir que cet amour se matérialise davantage dans les faits.
