Parmi les sujets ayant captivé l’auditoire au soir du renforcement des capacités organisé par l’Unicef et le ministère de la communication, celui portant sur « l’enregistrement des naissances au Gabon : forces et faiblesses ».
Depuis la ville de Mouila dans le Sud du Gabon, c’est Roger Darnel Nguema Ondo le Procureur (Auteur du livre l’État Civil au Gabon : ce que je dois savoir) qui, se basant sur les articles 24 et 29 du code de l’enfant ; ainsi que l’article 169 du nouveau code civil gabonais, a permis aux communicateurs de comprendre que la déclaration de naissance est passé de 3 jours après la naissance à deux semaines dans les communes et un mois dans d’autres lieux : une information auparavant ignorée du grand nombre. Chemin faisant, il a expliqué que chaque enfant a droit à un nom et à une famille et surtout, qu’il a le droit de résider et d’être entretenu par sa famille.
Les débats autour du module « L’exploitation journalistique du code de l’enfant en République gabonaise » était la cerise sur le gâteau. En effet, les journalistes très attentifs ont été invité à s’approprier les fondamentaux des texte et codes dédiés aux droits de l’enfant, et toujours illustrer leur reportage radio ou télévisé, articles de presse par un article tiré du code de l’enfant, de la convention relative aux droits de l’enfant ou tout autre référentiel.
Les échanges terminés, il a fallu en tirer quelques recommandations parmi lesquelles : l’intensification de l’information et de sensibilisation dans les villes et les quartiers pour mieux lutter contre la traite et l’exploitation des enfants ; l’ activation et publication d’un numéro vert ; l’intensification des sensibilisations aux fins de permettre aux victimes de dénoncer leurs bourreaux ; l’Unicef devrait davantage appuyer les pouvoirs publics dans les action à mener en faveur de l’enfant ; la presse doit s’approprier les instruments fournis relatifs aux droits de l’enfant et de les vulgariser davantage…
Clôturant les travaux et parlant au nom du Ministre de la communication Houagny Ambourouet, la Directrice de la Communication du ministère de tutelle Herlyne Otounga s’est adressée aux journalistes en ces termes : « Riches de ces acquis, vous serez désormais les ambassadeurs pour la promotion du le bien-être des enfants en éduquant la société à préserver l’écosystème fragile de cette catégorie de la population. Avec le sentiment du devoir accompli, je salue cette initiative de l’Unicef et déclare clôt, l’atelier de renforcement des capacités des professionnels des médias en matière de droits de l’enfant ».
Et pour rendre la cérémonie encore plus belle, outre le travail abattu par Dr Michel Ikamba, Mélanie Mbadinga Matsanga, Roger Darnel Nguema Ondo et le Premier Président de la cour d’Appel de Mouila, les participants ont été gratifié de certificat de participation, promettant mettre au service de l’enfant, toutes les connaissances acquises.
