Ouverture des travaux
de la première journée de l’intégration de l’Afrique Centrale ce 13
octobre à l’hôtel boulevard de Libreville. Un rendez-vous auquel, les
représentants des onze pays membres de la CEEAC ont répondu présent, ainsi que
les représentations du corps diplomatique de ces pays accrédités au Gabon. La
trame de ces échanges qui s’achèveront le 16 du mois en cours, tournait autour
des mécanismes pouvant aboutir à l’intégration régionale.

C’est Son Excellence Gilberto DA PIEDADE VERISSIMO, le Président nouvellement élu de la Commission de la CEEAC (Communauté Economique des Etats de l’Afrique Centrale) pour un mandat de cinq ans, qui a ouvert les travaux qui ont vu la présence de Faustin ROGOMBE, le Commissaire Général à l’intégration régionale, représentant le Ministre des affaires étrangères du Gabon (rappelons que c’est le Président de la République Gabonaise qui est le Président en exercice de la CEEAC), et un parterre de commissaires, ainsi que des diplomates. Cette retraite de la commission de la CEEAC qui se déroule sous le thème « la CEEAC à la croisée des chemins vers l’intégration de l’Afrique Centrale », a amené les experts à plancher sur les préoccupations communes notamment, la paix ; la sécurité (au regard de l’insécurité maritime) ; la question de la criminalité transnationale; la politique avec l’existence ou non de la démocratie ; l’exploitation illicite des ressources naturelles, les changements climatiques ; comment parvenir à l’intégration régionale ; les mécanismes d’autofinancement de la sous-région bref, la liste n’est pas exhaustive.
Dans son propos introductif, Son Excellence Gilberto DA PIEDADE VERISSIMO reviendra sur la nécessité de ces assises, et le bien-fondé d’une réelle intégration des membres de la CEEAC dont le but in fine est net : « cette vision est celle d’un avenir commun dans un environnement de paix, de sécurité et de stabilité, soutenu par un développement durable et une bonne gouvernance, afin d’assurer aux citoyens de la communauté, des conditions de vie meilleures dans la liberté et la justice ». Pour ce premier jour, rien n’a été dit sur les freins à cette intégration, l’espoir se fondant sur l’adhésion de tous les Etats à cet idéal, comme ont su le faire, leurs paires de la CDEAO en Afrique de l’Ouest.
