Selon le Journal Cameroon-Info.Net, le Coordonnateur des secours d’urgence de l’ONU, Martin Griffiths, a fait cette annonce mercredi dernier, affirmant que cette aide est destinée aux personnes touchées par les crises humanitaires dans ce pays en proie à la guerre et aux violences meurtrières notamment, avec les conflits entre communautés dans l’Extrême-Nord du pays où nombre d’habitants sont armés.
Reprenant les paroles de l’ONU, notre Confrère Cameroon-Info.Net a laissé entendre que le Coordonnateur humanitaire au Cameroun, Matthias Z. Naab, a expliqué que « cette allocation soutiendra les personnes les plus nécessiteuses dans les régions de l’Extrême-Nord, du Nord-Ouest et du Sud-Ouest à travers des services de protection et d’hébergement, permettant également une assistance alimentaire et nutritionnelle ».
Toujours selon Cameroon-Info.Net, les Nations Unies ont expliqué que les « déplacements forcés ont accru les risques en matière de protection, de perte des moyens de subsistance et d’insécurité alimentaire dans les zones touchées ». Selon des informations du Bureau des affaires humanitaires de l’ONU (OCHA), les crises humanitaires ont touché 3,9 millions de personnes dans ce pays en 2022, et « des centaines de milliers de personnes ont été forcées de fuir leurs maisons sur fond de violence ou d’inondations », a t-il expliqué.
