Sur le terrain, les pouvoirs publics ont fait mener des actions notamment: la sensibilisation dans les marchés ; la vulgarisation de la nouvelle mercuriale; des opération de répression à moyen terme, la création d’une brigade mixte dite d’alerte et d’austérité pour accroître la surveillance; des opérations de contrôle accru, avec mise à disposition d’un numéro vert ( 8185) permettant de dénoncer les commerçants qui ne respectent pas la nouvelle mercuriale.
Il convient cependant de relever que la nouvelle mercuriale ne concerne que les produits importés. L’huile et le sucre produits localement n’en font pas partie. La fixation de leurs prix passant par une homologation qui intègre les coûts d’acheminement.
Toutefois, des discussions sont entamées avec des associations et ONG, afin d’intégrer sur le long terme, les produits locaux dans la nouvelle mercuriale, en vue de répondre aux questions des consommateurs qui se demandent pourquoi les couts des produits locaux sont relativement élevés.
